(More customer reviews)I was introduced to this product after having emergency surgery on my GI tract and I lost a substantial amount of weight. I needed that weight to heal my body and make sure that my incision line would close up properly, which it did not. So, what to do? I had no appetite, but knew I needed protein at the very least. I didn't think I was going to like it at all. I only tried it to humor my friend and ended up enjoying it. I still drink a glass of it every day (I always buy chocolate, but I can vary the flavor by adding strawberry flavoring meant for milk. At first I thought it would be expensive, but 5 lb can go a long, long way. It is certainly the cheapest way I can get protein--far better than protein bars I was buying off the shelf when they were on sale. My mom is in remission from a nasty form of cancer. She lost a ton of weight, too. (Neither of us had much extra weight to begin with.) Now she is drinking this and liking it. This is the first positive step she has made, nutrtion-wise, since she started her chemotherapy almost a year ago. Her doctor knows she is now drinking it, and he is getting ready to start recommending the 100% whey powder to other people who can't afford to lose weight while in treatment. She had to laugh, because the product is for people who are active and trying to build muscle, and that's exactly what she really is trying to do, same as I am. Mom is now gaining weight and I am back at my normal weight, still drinking my whey protein.
