Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder Review

Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've tried numerous creatine products, including CellMass and No-Xplode by BSN, and have to say this is far superior. I had no changes in terms of size, recovery rate, or strength with the BSN products but only one and a half weeks after starting taking ON's creatine I've noticed a growth of my muscles.
I take 1 tablespoon (5 grams of creatine) 10 minutes before the end of my workout with 8 ounces of Powerade, providing simple carbs that aide in the delivery of the creatine to the necessary muscles. I use a Nalgene to shake it up in and find that it mixes very well. The powder doesn't dissolve but it's not difficult to get it down, just shake between sips. This method helps cover any taste it may or may not have and also makes it easy to mix before drinking. I've definitely noticed a change in the size of my triceps and biceps although I have not altered my workout significantly, suggesting the creatine is the cause.
I would suggest this product, and above drinking directions, to anyone interested in taking creatine.
Remember: work hard; eat healthy; rest up; and stay natural!

Special K Protein Meal Bar, Double Chocolate, 6-Count Bars (Pack of 3) Review

Special K Protein Meal Bar, Double Chocolate, 6-Count Bars (Pack of 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I already wrote a review for the chocolate chip ones, though I thought I was writing it for this flavor, so I will just copy and paste. THe both taste good.
I bought these bars as a meal replacement, since I am usually hungry about 4 hours after I had lunch, or 2-3 hours after breakfast, so I have to survive before the next meal. This does the job well. I can stay without eating for another 2-3 hours. It also depends how much water you drink, sometimes all you need is water to get rid of the "hunger". It's the way your body tells you you need water as well.
My stomach is somewhat sensible and doesn't like a lot of stuff, but these bars never bother me.
I also think they are tasty, but only the chocolate ones. I tried the strawberry ones, but they are too creamy. I also liked the chocolate chip ones, they both taste similar, though the chocolate chip ones have more fiber than these ones :P

Clif Bar Builder's Bar, Cookies and Cream, 2.4-Ounce Bars, (Pack of 12) Review

Clif Bar Builder's Bar, Cookies and Cream, 2.4-Ounce Bars, (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

A very good protein bar. The cookies and cream is very tasty, yet it is not too sweet. I find that the Builder's Bar has one big advantage over the regular Clif Bar (other than the protein of course): the Builder's Bar isn't super sweet. I really enjoy the regular Clif Bar but sometimes it leaves me feeling like I just ate a really sweet candy bar. The Builder's Bar doesn't suffer from that. The downside to the Builder's Bar, however, is that it does have a bit of saturated fat. In sum, not a bad bar and much tastier than many of the other protein bars I have tried.

If you want to get more protein in your diet, but you don't want to sacrifice the benefits of all-natural ingredients or great taste, then the Clif Builder's Bar is the perfect choice for you. With 20 grams of 100% natural protein from soy and nuts, and with no trans fats or hydrogenated oils, this dipped double-decker bar is delicious and nutritious. When it's chocolate and protein you need, this is the bar you want.

Natural Protein? Naturally! Protein comes from both plants and animals, but not all protein is created equally. The protein found in Clif Builder's Bars is free of antibiotics, hormones and genetic modifications, giving you a valuable investment in your total body health.
So while an extra lean top sirloin steak or an organic chicken breast are great sources of protein, it's not always convenient to throw those in your briefcase or gym bag. That's why it's helpful to have a Clif Builder's Bar on hand as a portable source of great-tasting natural protein that has ingredients you know and trust.
Make Protein Work Harder For You Staying healthy boils down to two simple ingredients: regular exercise and proper nutrition. Being active and eating healthy foods are no-brainers, but all too often people overlook the importance of getting enough protein in their diets. Virtually every part of your body needs protein to stay healthy, and when you work out, you especially need protein because your body is breaking down and repairing tissue.
The best time to grab a Clif Builder's Bar is within 30 minutes of completing a workout or competition--the protein helps your muscles recover quickly and gets you ready for the next training session. More protein also helps your body repair cuts, wounds, strains, stress fractures, broken bones, and other problems, which shortens the time you'll be on the sideline.
Build Your Brain with Clif Builder's Have a big meeting coming up? Need to write a report? Grab a Clif Builder's Bar and get the brain boost you need to make it through. The protein in the bar helps keep your brain working properly. Brain cells talk to each other via messengers that are made up of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Therefore, what you eat affects which neurons will be firing, and that in turn affects whether you'll feel energized or sluggish.

Worldwide Sport - Pure Protein Shake Cookies Crm, 12 drinks Review

Worldwide Sport - Pure Protein Shake Cookies Crm, 12 drinks

When one has gastric bypass surgery, one is required to get a lot of protein in. These shakes are perfect for me. I'm particularly sold on the Frosty Chocolate, though I'll drink the others too. They're portable, so I can bring them to work without needing a blender to mix a drink up, I don't need to worry about graininess, etc.
They're tasty, they're virtually fat and carb-free, and they're loaded with protein - the perfect food!!

Optimum Nutrition ZMA Review

Optimum Nutrition ZMA
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ahh, ZMA. The famed all-natural sleep and recovery aid for bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts. According to most supplement companies, it also increases free testosterone levels, though many studies show that this may not be true. Halfway through a bottle, here's what I've found:
Sleep - This stuff definitely knocks you out. If you take it as directed, 30-60 minutes before bed on an empty stomach, it hits you harder than "The Itis" after a Luther burger (Boondocks reference). You sleep excellently, too, and if you have to get up for any reason, you can easily fall back asleep afterwards. Some people say you have crazy dreams, but I don't ever remember mine, and that hasn't changed since I started taking ZMA. People also claim you wake up feeling awesome and ready to go, but so far I just wake up groggy as ever.
Recovery - This is sorta hard to judge, but my muscles do feel as though they are recovering faster after each workout since I started taking this stuff. Not quite as much soreness, either.
Testosterone - I actually think, despite some studies, that ZMA does have an effect on your testosterone production. I have read other reviews that say ZMA causes acne outbreaks, and I have observed this same thing over the past couple weeks. I don't think it's coincidence that soon after I started taking ZMA I'd randomly have recurring acne outbreaks that definitely weren't as bad before (I'm 19, by the way). But I'm no quitter, so I'm just going to finish this bottle and hope things go back to normal afterwards (there are other reasons I think this influences testosterone as well...see review title).
Other than the sleep, and some possible effects this supplement has had on my muscle tone/size (though there's no way to verify this), this stuff really isn't too fantastic. I gave it 5 stars though because it does what it claims to do. I won't be buying another bottle (unless I have a bad run of insomnia or something) any time soon, but if good sleep and recovery sounds good to you, I say go for it. Most people also have a daily magnesium deficiency, but if you take a good multi like I do you don't have to worry about this as much.

Highest Lignan Flax Oil Liquid - 100% Organic Review

Highest Lignan Flax Oil Liquid - 100% Organic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I started taking Flax Oil for a number of reasons. A chiropractor friend suggested I take it for joint inflammation, and in researching the product, I found out it has other benefits as well. Since starting Flax, my joint pain is no longer significant, I have dropped 3-5 points in my diastolic blood pressure, and my total cholesterol and LDL are significantly lower. I surely cannot attribute all these positive benefits to flax oil alone, as I have instituted other dietary and exercise protocols as well. However, my research indicates that flax oil benefits all the conditions I mentioned. After several bottles of Barlean's Flax Oil, I switched to Swanson's brand of Flax Oil due to the lower cost. I did not notice any difference in efficacy between the two brands. Some claim that Swanson's has a bitter taste to it. Since I mix mine in with salad oil dressing, any flax taste is masked by the dressing.
Flax is a plant. The seeds in the flax plant are filled with flaxseed oil, (sometimes called linseed oil). The seeds contain fatty oils called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid. ALA is the omega-3 oil in flaxseed. Flaxseed contains both omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. Flaxseed is nature's richest storehouse of omega-3 fatty acids, and contains more than twice as much omega-3 oil as fish oils, and it costs less , ounce for ounce. Flax also contains other important substances like lignans, which may protect against some types of cancer. The husks of the seeds are rich in mucilage. Both the seed oil and mucilage have many nutritional and therapeutic properties.
There are many potential benefits from taking Flax seed oil:
Flaxseed Oil lowers cholesterol levels, thereby improving cardiovascular health and lessening the risk of arteriosclerosis.
Flaxseed also contains plant nutrients like phytoestrogens. These are natural estrogen-like substances that can lessen the discomfort of menopause.
Flaxseed oil may lower high blood pressure.
Flaxseed oil helps some people improve their psoriasis and eczema, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Flaxseed may also reduce the itching, swelling, and redness associated with certain skin disorders such as acne.
Flaxseed oil has a positive effect on rheumatoid arthritis due to its ability to calm inflammation.
Flaxseed reduces LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol (the body's "bad cholesterol") and lowers triglyceride levels. Research shows that flaxseed oil gives much better protection against heart attacks than canola oil or olive oil.
Taking flaxseed may reduce cancer risk. This is because flaxseed contains the richest sources of lignan building blocks, which play a major role in preventing cardiovascular diseases and cancer. New research indicates that the lignans in flaxseed have both short-term and long-term protective effects against colon cancer.
It is always important to purchase you Flaxseed Oil from a well-known reputable company. One tip: keep your flaxseed oil away from light and heat, as both degrade the oil. If you purchase a bottle of flaxseed oil, make sure to refridgerate it after opening.
The usual beneficial dose of Flaxseed Oil is 2-3 grams once per day taken with a meal. Barlean's is pure Flax oil. Measure out the dose you wish to take and drink it or put it on a salad (or whatever).
The benefits of Flaxseed Oil are cumulative. Commit to taking it every day without fail. Like any herbal supplement, don't expect dramatic quick results. The results you get will be subtle at first and then build over time. For specific conditions such as Rhematoid arthritis, exzema, psoriasis, acne, etc,. the results should be apparent in 4-8 weeks. Be patient! Know that even if you don't "feel" different, you are sill protecting your body from the harmfull effects of many disease conditions.

Enfamil Expecta Lipil, Softgels, 30 softgels (Pack of 2) Review

Enfamil Expecta Lipil, Softgels, 30 softgels (Pack of 2)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first heard about Enfamil Expecta Lipil at a pregnancy nutrition course led by a nurse, who worked in prenatal for over 30 years. Since this is my first pregnancy, I didn't realize that omega-3 fatty acids were beneficial to the brain development of the growing embryo and fetus. I only knew at the time that pregnant women were supposed to be taking prenatal vitamins. I started taking Expecta Lipil around the 4th month of pregnancy. I figure it's never too late to start since I only learned of such information during my 2nd trimester. I am now starting my 3rd trimester.
I recommend this product based on several factors: 1. I didn't experience any side effects. 2. The product is manufactured by Mead Johnson, a reputable manufacturer of baby products. 3. The softgel is easily taken with my prenatal vitamins after a meal. 4. This brand was recommended by a seasoned health professional. 5. The product will definitely benefit my growing baby. 6. The purchase of a pack of 2 (60 gels total)definitely saved me some money. I ordered several packs to last for the duration of my pregnancy.
I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because initially I had difficulty removing a softgel from its blister packaging. The backing was not perforated. To easily remove a softgel, I punctured the backing with my thumb nail to tear it off. Also, absorption information was neither provided on the box nor at the manufacturer's website. This information would be helpful for the curious mother to roughly determine the amount of fatty acids that actually migrates into our bloodstream. This would allow me to keep track of my nutritional intake during my pregnancy. (In case you are wondering, I have a science background and have been working for the pharmaceutical industry for almost a decade.)
